Stephen king books I was thinking of reading a Stephen King book soon. Do you guys have any suggestions of one of his books that were good and that I should read?

Re: Stephen king books Ohhhh yes! I've read quite a few.. Have you never read a Stephen King book before? That'd color my recommendation. I'll be reviewing some on my friend's site here soonish but for now let's see...
If you've never read a Stephen King book, maybe try Carrie since that's his first published novel and also where I started, even though I've not just read chronologically. If you *have* read King before, one book that's not as popular but is extremely good would be Rose Madder. Let me know if you'd like any more suggestions and also what you think of the book(s) if you read it/them. lol

Re: Stephen king books I've read a short story about Stephen King's Salem's Lot which the film was made in 1979. Well, I've seen that movie before, but I forgot all the story... Salem's Lot is still out there now anyway... :-D

Re: Stephen king books Yeah, I need to read Salem's Lot.. weird I haven't gotten to that one. I read Jerusalem's Lot in one of King's books of short stories, though. It was pretty good, I figure I'll review that compilation. For now, though, I've got a review up on HappyHorror of Carrie (by Stephen King). You might like that one, Campblood, it's one of the most banned books by schools (in the US anyways)

Re: Stephen king books Gosh, I can think of like 20 or so books to tell you to read by Stephen King! He is one of my all time fave horror writers!!! Carrie is a great book to start with - good recommend Glowstorm. I really enjoyed Cujo also. The Dark Half is also very good and The Deadzone too. Right now I am reading Black House by Stephen King and Peter Straub --- it is really good so far!!!!
Gerald's Game is also a really great book - oh and The Stand is excellent and It . . . Okay I'll stop now but I think my recommendation for a 1st read would actually be IT. Be sure to let us know what you read first and what you think of it when you're done. One thing to keep in mind about Stephen King is that he really puts a lot into character development - which is awesome!!! I think that's why sometimes translating his books into movies just doesn't work all that well - unless it's a mini-seires.

Re: Stephen king books Yeah, Millie! You're absolutely right that S.K. is the best horror story writer!!
I love Salem's Lot, Cujo, Children of the Corn, ohh, gosh... many more stories out there! Also, I've seen Return to Salem's Lot. I have to see these movies again because I completely forgot all of them... :-D

Re: Stephen king books "The Dark Tower" series is decent, "The Stand, The Dark Half, It.'' "The Eyes Of the Dragon," is worth a read if you enjoy fantasy novels.

Re: Stephen king books I actually haven't read the Dark Tower Series . . . my mom and brother have and they really like it.
I also loved Desperation, Bag of Bones and Hearts in Atlantis. I had almost forgotten about The Eyes of the Dragon - that was a really good one too. Definitely fantasy based and extremely good to boot!!! What did you guys think of the Bachman Books ??
