Bug I've just heard about this new film: Bug.
It looks like it might be okay, but I found the website a bit annoying. It's quite a snazzy site, but there is very little there in the way of information (unless that comes after all of the pics). Here is a link if you want to check it out yourself: http://www.bugthemovie.com/

Re: Bug I kinda want to see that one. Bugs in general just really freak me out. It is not helping that ant season is offically starting here in CT. Little creepy crawly buggers . . .

Re: Bug Ants! We have an ongoing battle with them every year. They manage to find their way through the brick wall somehow and into the living room. So I poison their exits and then - you won't believe this - they turn up on the floor above, in our bedroom. I don't mind ants. I mind when they get in the house though. I suppose I could always let my pet tarantula out to have a go at them. But I think Mrs Zombie would rather have the ants.

Re: Bug So Zombie - is your tarantula poisonous or non-poisonous? My hubby was telling me that the term tarantula just actually a generic term for a big hairy spider . . .
Wikepedia: Tarantula Spiders FREAK me out . . .

Re: Bug Oh dear! Wikipedia has got so much wrong, wrong, wrong...
Not all tarantulas live on the ground some are arboreal. Mine is a pink toed tarantula. Pink toes are arboreal and would live high up. Perhaps in trees. Like a lot of arboreal tarantulas she can jump, which can be quite scary. Tarantualas can spin webs too. There again Wikipedia is wrong. Although they dont use a web to catch prey as such. My Pink toe has made a very intricate hide for herself all made out of silk. It is even lined inside with silk. Not all hairy spiders are tarantulas though. Baboon spiders, for instance are not tarantulas. Baboon spiders, like a lot of spiders, have pincer-like fangs at the front. Tarantulas fangs are underneath and have an entirely different action. As to the poison: all tarantulas carry a tremendous amount of venom, but it is usually not that poweful. A bite has been likened to a bee-sting. Perhaps not even as bad, Some people are allergic to the venom however. If they get bit they are in real trouble. Am I allergic? I don't know. I've never been bit - yet. Scorpions, on the other hand, have very powerful venom, more deadly than that of most snakes, but most scorpion's stings don't carry much venom. So once again the only problem posed is for those that are allergic.

Re: Bug Why thank you for that treasure trove of tarantuala trivia . . . sometimes Wikepedia isn't the best resource for sure . . .
