THe original was just such a great cast of characters that worked on so many levels. I imagine it is hard to find that kind of chemistry. It all just gelled so well!

by far at LEAST top 3 of all time Jack is a nut and I like him. I spit on the remake. "I'm gonna bash your brains in.

Oh I loved her character. You would have to be that dim witted to stay with Jack Nicholson's character. I will agree that she did play an absolutely irritating character but for me it worked.

I agree! I love the movie The Shining! I thought it was very creepy! But WHY IN THE HELL was Shelley Duvall in it??????? Can someone please answer that for me? She was so irritating!

I'll second that -- anytime I see The Shining on TV, I immediately put it on and watch it no matter how far it is into the movie.

And believe me, I've seen The Shining a lot!!

Amen to that . . . I can come into that movie and watch it from any point. That is a sign of a truly great movie if you ask me!

Nicholson was great in that. Nobody could have done it better. The remake of the film was, perhaps, a little more true to King's book, and it was actually pretty good for a remake, but the original film will always be my favourite.
