When a stranger calls back The first 25 minutes of when a stranger calls back always put chills down my spine. Jill Schoelen (POPCORN, The Stepafther)plays Julia baring a Mia Farrow haircut and wears a school girls unform that gives the film that 70's feel. Think Black Christmas from 1974.
She is babysitting two children. all is fine until the phone goes dead and there is a stranger who is knocking on the door. He claims his car had died and needs to call the auto club. Julia offers to call for him, but the phone is dead, and rather than alert a strange man that she's without a link to the outside world, she lies and says they're on their way. The man returns to the door repeatedly, angrily wondering why help hasn't arrived; somehow Julia keeps her cool. what other films followed a Unban myth? I saw P2, when a stranger calls (both versions)and when a stranger calls back, Black christmas (1974) and Urban legend. |

Re: When a stranger calls back What about Candyman - this really follows the "Bloody Mary" urban legend pretty closely.
Also - remember Gremlins? A small part of the movie follows an urban legend. Kate's hatred of Christmas had a whole lot to do with the fact that her Dad, whilst playing Santa got himself stuck down the chimney and died. Anybody else have any?
