Without doubt my favorite scary movie of all time is The Shining-directed by Stanley Kubrick. It's such a classic movie, and it has all the elements of ghost movies, mystery, and slasher films incorperated into it.

Yes - this is a phenomenal film. Jack N. was fabulous; playing the insanity card to a "t".

Nicholson was great in that. Nobody could have done it better. The remake of the film was, perhaps, a little more true to King's book, and it was actually pretty good for a remake, but the original film will always be my favourite.

I'll second that -- anytime I see The Shining on TV, I immediately put it on and watch it no matter how far it is into the movie.

And believe me, I've seen The Shining a lot!!

I agree! I love the movie The Shining! I thought it was very creepy! But WHY IN THE HELL was Shelley Duvall in it??????? Can someone please answer that for me? She was so irritating!

Oh I loved her character. You would have to be that dim witted to stay with Jack Nicholson's character. I will agree that she did play an absolutely irritating character but for me it worked.
