What the hell happened to her face . . .

In the Masters of Horror episode entitled Jenifer directed by Dario Argento, we meet up with Frank (Steve Webber) as he stumbles upon a strange and horrifying scene. Seems a man with a meat cleaver is hell bent on carving a young girl to pieces. It doesn’t seem to matter to him that Frank is pointing a gun at him. The only thing the guy can get out of his mouth before he dies is “Jenifer”.

This starts Frank’s strange obsession with a beastly (and I don’t mean that figuratively folks) looking woman whom noone seems to want. Taking one look at her, you can’t really blame them. Frank however seems to have a soft spot for Jenifer (or should I say hard spot?) and takes her into his home. After an incident with the family cat, his wife and her son leave him and he is left alone with Jenifer who has an insatiable appetite for anything with intestines.

As Frank tries to rid himself of Jenifer it becomes more and more obvious that there is only one real way to do this. And he may have stumbled upon it at the beginning of this delightfully ghoulish Masters of Horror episode.

Through this whole episode I kept saying to myself - “Ooh this is good. This is better than the last three. I think this may be my favorite episode so far.” But then unfortunately, the end came and even though the episode ended well, it left me wanting more and a bit on the unsatisfied side. Having said that, it was still an excellent episode and it ties for second place with “Dreams In the Witch-House.”

Can’t wait till next week’s episode, Chocolate, directed by Mick Garris who frequently works with Stephen King developing his novels for TV.
