Yikes! So this is one more reason why you'll never catch me hiking in the Austrailian Outback . . .
Wolf Creek was based on actual events. That is a scary statement right there. When you think about it though there were alot of liberties taken in the telling of this horrifying tale. When you see it (or if you have already), you will know what I am talking about. But, even still, this was one hell of a film. And if even one eighth of the events happened the way they were portrayed - I reiterate my above statement "Yikes"!
I am not going to go into detail about what transpired in Wolf Creek because I think it is important to watch the film and not be influenced by the way I saw it. But it is not for the faint of heart, I will tell you that. I spent a good deal of my time in the theatre on the edge of my seat, clutching one part of my body or another in sympathy for the victims of Wolf Creek.
The piece de resistance of the film for me was definitely the introduction of the "head on a stick" - a tactic apparently used during the Vietnam War to immobilize the enemy captives. Double Yikes!
An amazing film that surely needs to be viewed to be appreciated, Wolf Creek is destined to become a cult classic. My advice would be to go and see this movie but be forewarned it is extremely violent - Yikes in triplicate!
