Luck be a lady tonite . . .
In this episode of Medium entitled Lucky in Love, luck really was a lady but she wasn’t all that lucky . . .
Allison (Patricia Arquette) starts off this episode having a dream about a violent bank robbery in which a beautiful red head is taken hostage and her brother, Michael (Ryan Hurst) is one of the robbers underneath a stocking mask. Her suspicions against Michael mount when he shows up on her doorstep the very next day unannounced.
As her suspicions are abashed by the answers given to her by Michael about his whereabouts during the robbery (he actually got a ticket for speeding around the time of the actual robbery), Allison can’t help but wonder what this particular dream actually meant.
It turns out that Michael may have himself a touch of the family curse/blessing as he is having quite the relationship with a dead con-woman who was involved in the bank robbery (Emilia - Rachel Miner). It seems that she didn’t even know she was gone because Michael was the first person she saw after her death and he actually saw and communicated with her.
As he spends the remainder of the episode trying to get back Emilia’s suitcase from the very bad men she was involved with, Allison races with the clock to convince Emilia that she has passed and that she has left Michael in a very bad predicament.
Of course, the cops bust into the hotel room where Michael was being beaten down by Emilia’s killer and ex-lover, Bobbie (Salvador Xuereb) just in time to find that all three of the bad men have shot and killed each other. Greed is an ugly thing my friends . . .
An interesting episode which gives us an even deeper look into Allison’s family life. I have to say I missed the kids in this episode as they didn’t really play too big a role. Not my favorite episode, but still a good one.
I have to say my favorite lines of the episode came during the following exchange between Allison and her brother:
Michael: I guess I'm more like you than I realized.
Allison: Yeah, sorry about that.
Michael: Just so we're straight here - seeing ghosts, seeing the future, that is the extent of our superpowers? I don't have to worry about laser beams shooting out of my ass, or leaping tall buildings in a single bound, or anything like that?
Allison: I believe you and your ass are safe.
