This typically I Know What You Did Last Summer-ish flick left a lot to be desired. To be honest, I couldn't really stay awake through most of it. That's sad for me because I normally have no problems staying awake through a horror film. But I guess we should make the distinction, this was no horror film, it was just a horrible film.
The only good thing that came out of the movie for me was the fact that we got to see what an older Joey Lawrence looks like. He was actually okay in the film, that is up until the point where he vanishes without a trace for no apparent reason. Seems like anybody dating or wanting to date Beth Morgan (Dorie Barton) doesn't have a good chance of reaching their next birthday. This is evidenced by the fact that not only does her current boyfriend disappear during the film, but her former boyfriend was hacked to pieces the year or so before. Also the guy who has the hots for her Brad (Chad Allen) also mysteriously disappears towards the beginning of the film. No one knows who did it...I guess that's the secret? It's hard for me to say because I lost total interest.
The writing and acting in the movie was just atrocious. I mean, what group of teens sees their friends sliced and diced and just kinda go "Oh that's sad, now let's go talk about sex!" Don't they know that talking about or having sex is high on the list of things that make you killable? And why is an FBI agent (played by Jeff Conaway) involved in the original investigation of Beth's boyfriend's death? Oh and I don't care how "mean kids can be", people really don't joke about their friends' boyfriends being hacked to death the year before. It just doesn't happen - especially if we are to believe that these six kids have been friends for a very long time.
If you can't already tell, I really disliked this film. So much so, that I will not be watching it again to fill in the missing details of my nap. I feel like watching this film took a little of my life away...I want it back damn it!!!
