Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid was a semi-decent eatem-up snake film . . .
Nothing too great here folks but okay entertainment for a night like tonight - early weeknight nothing really going on, that kind of thing. The one thing that made me chuckle a bit was when Cole Burris (Eugene Byrd) makes a comment about a guy he knows who knows a guy who knew this documentary film crew who all got eaten up by snakes whilst filming a documentary in the jungle. Talk about your "urban legend" - only this time, if you watched the first in the series you know that this legend is based in fact.
And there we have it. This was almost like a re-imagining of the original Anaconda only with a group of scientists who have chartered a questionable captain and boat (in this case Bill Johnson (Johnny Messner) as the greed inspired captain instead of the Jon Voight crazy hunter character) to take them through the jungle. When the boat makes a wrong turn at Albuquerque, the group goes tumbling down a waterfall and the fun really begins as they have officially hit Anaconda country - and giant Anaconda country at that.
In this one we also have some more fun with jungle inhabiting insects who like to bite and bad team members who do lots of bad things. What we don't really have in this second installment is a spark. I was just like "okay" throughout the whole thing. Well, not really the whole thing because I got up at one point to wash some dishes. But have no fear, my trusty brother was watching in my stead and he informed me that I did not miss much.
When all is said and done while
Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid was watchable, it was not necessarily recommendable and I'll just leave it at that.
