The Beast of Bray Road was one bad ass beast . . .

Right from the get go the killings began. They were bloody and intestinal. Lots of bodies ripped in half in this tale of the supposed WI Lycanthrope. But most interesting to me was how they portrayed this town of Delavan, WI. I mean, the women all seemed to be loose as a country goose and all of the men seemed to be nothing more than police hating rednecks and wife beaters. No wonder they were all getting eaten by a werewolf - it was punishment for their sins, right??

I think they may have stretched the phrase "based on actual events" just a little too far for my liking in regard to this film. I mean really from what I've read and been told about this legend there have been no accounts of people being ripped in half. But I don't know, maybe I've missed something.

At any rate, The Beast of Bray Road was actually very entertaining for me once I took the "based on actual events" statement out of the picture. I really enjoyed most of the characters and the beast, while a just a tad bit unrealistic looking, was quite an adversary for our new town sheriff' Phil Jenkins(Jeff Denton). Although throughout the movie it is important to remember that he is not officially the new sheriff until Pam (Noel Thurman) gives up the seat in two weeks. Hence the investigation not going quite the way Jenkins would quite like it to be going. Enter our innocent and naive cryptozoologist, Quinn McKenzie (Thomas Downey) who needs to categorize this new animal species for his thesis. By the end of the film he learns about more than just one wild anmial in Delavan, WI to say the least.

With quite enough blood to satisfy and my favorite new word, cryptozoologist (remember that from Chupacabra Dark Seas??), being utilized throughout the film, The Beast of Bray Road definitely gets a recommend from me. Although I could definitely see why the people of Delavan, WI would not take a fancy to this artistic rendering of their little rural community, I can only say to them that most of us know what "based on actual events" has come to mean in this day and age. And it almost always means based on one tiny little corn kernel of a fragment of an actual event. Hope that gives them some solace . . .
