After watching Dahmer, I got to thinking just how terrifying it is that you never really know what is in someone's mind . . .

I mean, take the instance of Dahmer's(Jeffrey Renner) first kill (in the movie) a boy by the name of Lance Bell (Matt Newton). He had no clue what was coming, other than maybe smoking some pot and hanging out with some kid from the neighborhood. And what about all those men from the gay bar - they just thought this dorky little nobody was buying them a drink because he thought they were cute. It is sick and twisted world out there my friends and mostly because of the sick and twisted individuals that make it up.

But I digress - while I did really enjoy Dahmer, I also was a bit disappointed in it. I think this is probably because I have read a lot about Dahmer and seen some tv shows about him so I really wanted the movie to follow a bit more closely to what I know of this infamous serial killer. But I guess that the movie was trying to get across a kind of motivation for Dahmer - like trying to explain why he did what he did.

Renner was totally convincing as both a young and older Jeffrey Dahmer. It was amazing to me just how much he actually looked like a demented chocolate factory working in psychopath in the film. If you look at some of his photos on IMDB he doesn't look half as freaky as he did for this film. I guess all in all it had a bit more to do with his mood and tone in the movie than the look but he definitely had an almost oddly sadistic look to him at points in the movie. In other points, I actually felt a bit bad for him as you got a glimpse into how controlling his father (Bruce Davison) really was. There was something really strange about their relationship to say the very least.

As with most serial killer movies I really liked this one. I think I just hold this strange fascination with anyone who could actually commit these violent crimes. I keep trying in my mind to sort out the why. In reality though, no one really ever knows. Sometimes not even the serial killers themselves.

Dahmer is a definite recommend for any fan of serial killer flicks.

 Re: Dahmer
Dahmer really frightened me. If this movie is even close to portraying Jeffrey Dahmer and what he really did, I don't think I will ever leave the house again.

Jeremy Renner was perfect as Dahmer. Not only did he make me believe Dahmer was evil, he also kind of made me feel just a little bit sorry for him -- not enough to understand what he did, but at times he evoked the slightest bit of sympathy for Dahmer.

This is probably one of the best Serial Killer movies I have ever seen -- Silence of the Lambs was great, but this was actually based on a real serial killer which makes it that much more frightening.
