Pumpkinhead: Blood Feud left me feeling a bit confused . . .
. . . the time line seemed to be a bit off to me. I mean the Hatfields and the McCoys?
I suppose it may have been an attempt to demonstrate that hatred between families is bad and all but I just found it distracting. Maybe Pumpkinhead should go back and settle the score between the Capulets and the Montagues . . .
But I digress. This film was full of guts and gore which was a mark in the plus category for me, but as for the story - eh I wasn't all that impressed. In reality though how much can you do with a fourth installment in a franchise that doesn't really have that many avenues to go down. It's a classic tale of revenge and how it eats a person up inside. So here's my advice kiddies - let it go . . . there's a lot to be said for
Zen.
As for the return of Ed Harley (Lance Henricksen) from the original
Pumpkinhead, I found that to be a bit odd because it seems to me that this story happened before Harley's time although everyone in the film kept commenting how this was all started by Ed Harley. My time line issue may have had something to do with the whole Hatfield/McCoy thing - see told you it was distracting to me. Must've been all those cartoons I watched as a kid. Oddly enough Old Man Hatfield (Richard Durden) reminded me a lot of all of those cartoon caricatures of the Hatfield patriarch.
There was also a back story of Sherif Dallas Pope (Rob Freeman) and his dealings with Pumpkinhead five years earlier. Seems he wronged some poor slob who called Pumpkinhead on him - hence his overflowing knowledge on the Pumpkinhead phenomena and how to stop it.
So in conclusion, I have to remind myself that this was a SciFi Original then I leave feeling pretty okay about the film. As SciFi Originals go, this wasn't half bad. Fair amount of cheese, typically SciFi Original bad acting and just slightly less than horrible writing add up to make
Pumpkinhead: Blood Feud a "watch if you've nothing better to do" movie.
