The Medium episode entitled Second Opinion had me very, very upset to say the least. . .
Just the thought of dreaming a premonition of your own child’s death coupled with having visions from said dream tie directly into your waking life makes my skin crawl - what a burden our poor Allison (Patricia Arquette) has . . .
Although as is the case in most instances, things are not always as they seem. I suppose that what Allison almost does in this episode is just as important as what she actually does do. Either way you look at it, she prevents great tragedies from occurring.
I have to say that what I really enjoyed about this episode was delving deeper into the character of Detective Lee Scanlon (David Cubitt). It was interesting to see his vulnerability as we gain a small glimpse into his world which contains, of all things, a Narcotics Anonymous meeting.
I also liked that they are beginning to bring Marie (Miranda Carabello) into the mix more. Joe’s (Jake Weber) cynicism and friendly sarcasm played a nice anchor to Allison’s almost manic states in this episode. Their Yin and Yang seemed quite evident to me at the end of the day.
All in all another fine episode of Medium. I hope the show just keeps getting better and exploring new territories as well as continuing to plump up its characters.
. . . oh and let’s not forget to mention poor Mr. Snookie who will never quite be the same after this episode. . .
