Sad to say but
Pulse really didn't get my blood pumping all that quickly. . .
Not to say it didn't have its moments but all in all not that impressive a film to say the least. I think the problem I had with this film is the problem I have with most "technology is out to get you" films and that is that the people in them are just so damn dumb. I mean if these things can get you through the computer or phone or fax or tv or whatever then why not just get rid of these technological advances. After all one plus one does still equal two, right?
But anyway the whole reason behind the invasion of the ghosties in this film didn't make much sense to me either. I mean, I am to believe that the ghosts are coming through and stealing the life force from anyone they can get their hands on right? But why? Are these all evil ghosts? And what pray tell do they do with this stolen life force once they have taken it? Didn't seem like they did anything with it to me - so what's the point. Add to that the whole premise behind how they came through which really wasn't explained all that well in the first place and I was just left saying - huh?
Tonight I feel like being positive though and I will say that the atmosphere of the film was really dark and creepy. The look of the ghosties themselves was pretty freaky as well. And the film did have one all out terrifying scene for me and that was in the laundry room with Isabell (Christina Milian) who for being a pop star actually gave a pretty decent performance here. There were other thrills in the movie as well so it's definitely not a total loss. I think I was just expecting more and that is sometimes my problem - I expect too much and am given too little. I really wanted to like this film too - I mean I am a big fan of Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell as Mattie Webber in this film).
So all in all, I wouldn't run out to rent
Pulse or buy it or even fall over yourself to see it, but if you do see it just don't expect too much. Perhaps that will help your viewing of this film.
