28 Weeks Later and you thought The Rage was a thing of the past . . .

and it would’ve been too if it hadn’tve been for those pesky kids . . .

While kids are always a problem in a horror film even more of a problem in this horror film is the wrath of a woman scorned. Don (Robert Carlyle) would’ve done well to remember that old proverb in his dealings with the supposed love of his life, Alice (Catherine McCormack). You never wanna mess with a woman with abandonment issues – not pretty.

So we join our friends on the other side of the pond 28 Weeks Later (as the title alludes to) and they have successfully restored power and order to a small area. However, no one is supposed to cross the bridge to the other side because on that other side still sits a huge mess leftover from the Rage epidemic.

As well guarded as everything supposedly is, two kids are able to make it across the divide and lo and behold they meet up with their mother who was presumably killed during an attack. This is where all hell breaks loose as the military looses control and The Rage is once again unleashed into the safe zone.

The military has a plan for just such an occurrence but unfortunately as is the case most times in these types of films, the military just can’t get their act together and here comes the end of the world as we know it. Adding to the confusion, the military doctor wants to save the children whose mother Alice seemed to have some sort of immunization to The Rage. Unfortunately, Daddy did not.

These newly infected with The Rage in 28 Weeks Later seem to be much more vicious to me than in 28 Days Later. In 28 Days Later they seemed to be doing what they needed to in order to survive but in this latest installment it just seems that the infected want to rip people apart and spray their blood everywhere. It’s quite a nice effect but seems a bit over the top to me in some instances.

Having said that, 28 Weeks Later was okay as far as sequels go. I mean, there were some pretty steep plot holes and leaps of faith to be taken in my opinion but all in all it was a decent film. Not great, but decent.
