If See No Evil has taught me one thing it is this . . .

. . . religious zealots are freaks!

It has also reinforced the fact that I have a really hard time watching a film where people’s eyes are plucked out. I swear, the whole time I was watching See No Evil, my eyeballs hurt. You’ll know why if you catch this fairly bad film.

The premise is that Williams (Steven Vilder), while a police officer four years earlier, had put a bullet in the head of Jacob Goodnight (wrestler Kane) after he chopped off one of Williams’ hands. After four years, Williams has secured another job as a CO for troubled kids. He brings them to help clean up Blackwell Hotel under the watchful eye of self proclaimed restorian (yep, I totally made up that word), Margaret (Cecily Polson). Only problem is that with lots of hidden passageways and a couple of floors of charred remnants – this leaves a lot of places for our old friend Jacob to hide (what a coincidence, don’t you think?).

He doesn’t hide for long though as he begins to pick off the group one set of eyeballs at a time – he really does have a thing for seeing no evil. Or at least for having others not see the evil. He also has a thing for religious tattoos that becomes evident in his obsession with Kira (Samantha Noble), one of the bad girls from cellblock F (okay really bad reference here to another movie of the not so nice nature).

I have to admit I really enjoyed the twist when Melissa (Penny McNamee), who is an extreme animal rights advocate, meets up with her furry little friends later in the film. It was tres predictable but a guilty little pleasure for me nonetheless. Also Goodnight had an interesting little get-together with one of them later in the film as well.

At any rate, while there were some mildly entertaining parts to this movie, as a whole it just didn’t work for me. Although it is not quite in the “don’t waste your time on this one” bucket it is dangerously bumping and grinding against said bucket.
