In the first Episode of Fear Itself, a milder version of the Showtime Masters of Horror series . . .

. . . we enjoy Breck Eisner’s direction of Mick Garris’ story The Sacrifice.

You always know you are in for trouble when you get stuck out in the middle of nowhere by what looks like a giant screw sticking out of the road. This was no different when four no good nicks find themselves stranded in the snow with a wounded teammate.

They trudge through the snow only to find what seems like an abandoned compound. The compound turns out to be not so abandoned as they originally thought when they meet up with three sexy siren sisters Chelsea (Rachel Miner), Virginia (Mircea Monroe) and Tara (Michelle Molineaux). Typical men, Point (Jeffrey Pierce), Lemmon (Jesse Plemons – or as my husband likes to call him “the retarded Matt Damon”) and Diego (Stephen Martines) are a little enamored by the girls. Navarro (Reamonn Joshee) was injured from the beginning so he is a little off, otherwise he would probably be thinking with his little head too . . .

But enough of that, things go from bad to worse when the bad boys learn that the girls are not the only ones lurking around the compound. There is something else there and it wants their blood.

The Sacrifice puts forth a pretty interesting vampiric premise but misses just a bit on the ending in my opinion. It misses a bit in the middle as well for me as I know men will be men but I tend to think they wouldn’t be quite as single minded as we are led to believe in this story.

All in all a decent 1st installment of Fear Itself. I will definitely watch on . . .
