Spooked raises the age old question . . .
. . . do the ends always justify the means?
In Spooked, the 2nd installment of the Fear Itself series, we find Harry Siegel aka Harry Bender (Eric Roberts) questioning this very thing as he takes on the case of Meredith Kane (Cynthia Watros) and her cheating husband. The case finds this once good cop turned private eye holed up in an abandoned house across the street from his subject’s home. All would be fine except that this house seems to have a mind of its own as it totally messes with Bender’s head.
This episode was just okay for me as I don’t think it ever really explained how Bender ended up at the house in the first place. I mean I get the fact that it had to do with what happened between him and Rory (Jack Noseworthy) in the beginning scenes but not all that clear on how Meredith Kane becomes involved. This mini horror film probably needed more time to go into more detail. Or at the very least Matt Venne and Mick Garris needed to figure out how to get more into the hour.
And another thing . . . why was this house so darned evil in the first place?
And don’t even get me started on the ending. I saw that coming three and one half miles away.
So this episode was just okay in my book – enjoyable at least. I’ll still keep on watching to see what comes next.
