Darren Lynn Bousman offers up his zombie-liscious sacrifice for the Fear Itself series entitled New Year’s Day . . .
Okay, so zombie-liscious may be overstating it a bit. But this wasn’t too bad in my opinion. That is if you are sure NOT to figure out the whole “twist” ending.
We begin the episode with Helena (Briana Evigan) waking up to what is sure to be a killer hangover. The hangover is made all that much worse by the fact that she is a little befuddled and confused by all of the madness going on in the world outside her window. She has these flashbacks to the previous night as she tries to make her way toward her boyfriend James’ (Cory Monteith) house. There seems to be some sort of problem with the phones though as well because every time Helena calls, James can’t seem to understand a word she is saying.
So the whole episode is her trying to find her way back to the one she loves, who just so happens to be hanging out with her BFF (Zulay Henao). As the events of the night become clearer to Helena she finds herself more confused than ever. She ends up meeting up with her roommate/friend/wants to be more than a friend, Eddie (Niall Matter) and the two of them finally figure out that they are truly meant to be . . . well, what they are meant to be I can’t divulge here, but they are quite obviously meant to be something.
New Year’s Day is an interesting installment if not ultimately a little on the predictable side.
