Flu Bird Horror . . . you know when SciFi has the grammar this bad you are in for a real treat . . .
Okay, treat may be overstating it a bit but it was an “interesting” concept.
This group of delinquents gets a weekend work retreat in the woods. The only problem is that these particular woods seem to be infested by giant flu infested bird-freaks whose sole intention is to feed. Apparently the flu makes them hungry . . . I thought it was starve a fever feed a cold? Maybe it’s feed a flu . . .
At any rate, they are running around the woods trying to get away from the birds – some of the kids get eaten, some get infected by the flu, some find guns and decide they are in charge. Ava (Sarah Butler) the smartie of the bunch finds a walkie talkie through which she gets in contact with park ranger Garrett (Lance Guest) and Dr. Giovanna Thomas (Tarri Markell) who for some reason feel very connected and want to save the future dregs of society – very convenient if you ask me! Of course, this wouldn’t be a SciFi Originals if there wasn’t some sort of government conspiracy cover up type aspect – so there is that too.
All in all this film wasn’t a complete waste of time. It definitely wasn’t great but as I said before it was an interesting concept. You will most assuredly have to suspend your disbelief at some of the conveniences that seem to pop up all over the place for these kids. Also the fact that Garrett seems to simultaneously know the woods like the back of his hands and be able to get himself lost in a paper bag. Believe me I understand the fact of being directionally challenged and all but let’s try and keep in consistent folks . . .
So if you’ve nothing better to do and
Flu Bird Horror happens to be on, it’s a watcher but don’t go out of your way to see it by any means.
