Let me tell you something about Deep Shock, it is deeply shocking that I was actually able to make it to the end of the movie.

I have to say about the only thing that kept me going was the fact that I was so sure something bad was going to happen to Chomsky (Mark Sheppard) that I just kept watching and waiting for him to get his just desserts. He was horrible from the beginning. Of course, so was everyone else in the movie.

The plot (if you dare to call it that) is that giant, electric, possibly alien eels are creating a rise in temperature in the Polaris Trench which threatens to melt the polar ice caps and flood the earth. Of course you have a good side and a bad side, which are kind of hard to discern because the “bad” side wants to save the earth from total destruction, while the “good” side wants to let giant, electric, possibly alien eels take over the earth’s surface? It doesn’t really work that our supposed hero is actually working against saving mankind.

Another thing that really doesn’t work in Deep Shock is the CGI of the eels. I nearly fell off the couch laughing when first I saw them. And there is a scene where our hero, Dr. Anne Fletcher (Simmone Jade Mackinnnon) actually makes contact with these creatures. . . more laughing. . .

Arciero (Sean Whalen) gave us a bit of comedic relief and I spent a lot of the movie trying to remember from where it was that I remembered him. It was The People Under the Stairs - he played Roach! It was a welcome distraction from a totally pointless, totally unentertaining, mind-numbingly boring movie. My recommendation would be to skip Deep Shock and rent The People Under the Stairs - it was much more entertaining.
