Situated in a 19th century village surrounded by "those we don't speak of" M Knight Shyamalan's movie The Village is visually stunning and exquisitely acted.

Immediately you are drawn in to the character's world and you feel deeply for them. The love story between Ivy Walker (Bryce Dallas Howard) and Lucius Hunt (Joaquin Phoenix) is sweet and will make women the world over yearn for the "strong silent type". Although, I could not quite get a handle on what was going on with Edward Walker (William Hurt) and Alice Hunt (Sigourney Weaver) most of the relationships are very well developed. Noah Percy (Adrian Brody) is a very convincing mentally challenged boy who likes to be a bit mischievous.

The Village is an interesting movie. Much like other M Knight Shyamalan movies, there is a definite plot twist. Although some have said that this movie is "just like his other three" ( The Sixth Sense, Signs and Unbreakable - which I might add are three distinctly different movies) the only similarity I can really find is the fact that there is a plot twist. M Knight's naysayers may also pick apart the "reality" of the film's premise, but I know that when I go to watch a movie, I go into it with the knowledge that I may have to accept some leaps of faith to make it work. It is a film, it is not reality. (Unless of course you are watching a documentary in which case you shouldn't have to accept any leaps of faith - unless it is a documentary on faith...but I digress). If you can get past the "reality holes" the movie is very quick and quite enjoyable. I can't say much else about it for fear of leaking the twist. It is something that you should see on your own and then comment about. But I warn you, this movie is not what the trailers may have led you to believe...
