Carrie - the ultimate "Chick Flick"?

It has often been said that "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned". It has never been more evident than in the classic adaptation of Stephen King's story of Carrie White. Think about it, all her life Carrie White has been burdened. Daddy is nowhere to be found, Mommy is an insane Jesus freak and if that weren't bad enough, Carrie isn't very well liked by her classmates. Go figure. She goes through life afraid and uninformed of the most basic changes coming in her life. So when Carrie gets her first period and her classmates taunt her and Mommy treats it like a sin, it is a little too much for Carrie to take. Her powers of Telekinesis emerge (energized by her newfound womanhood) which Mommy again treats as evil. Carrie tries to take it all in stride, but when the school bullies play an awful trick on her on prom night, her Mother's grating voice comes back to haunt her.

"They're all gonna laugh at you..." These words begin a bloodbath of epic proportion.

However, you cannot help but feel for Carrie- her innocence, her vulnerability. But in the end, all are surprised by her strength. All of us women were once a little bit of her. Scared, confused and unaware of how much power we really do possess. Chicks rule...
