Review - Saw

I seen, I SAW . . . sorry guys that statement will mean nothing to anyone but my brother and myself, but somehow it seems to fit . . .

At any rate, what a great movie Saw was. I was brought to the edge of my seat at all the right times, I was simultaneously disgusted and entertained and just when I thought I knew the key to solving the puzzle - PoP - another piece would jump out.

We begin our adventure with Adam (Leigh Whannel) just waking up in a tub of dirty bath water in complete darkness. He is obviously bewildered and will soon be even more so when the lights are turned on and he meets his roommates, one of whom does not seem to have made it. The other roommate is Dr. Lawrence Gordon (Cary Elwes) who may have a special connection to the monster that is holding them captive.

Dr. Gordon was recently questioned by Detective David Tapp (Danny Glover) who, up until his partner - Detective Steven Sing (Ken Leung) - was brutally sliced up by aforementioned monster, was the lead detective on the Jigsaw case. Detective Tapp goes a little batty and becomes obsessed with Gordon which will be very fortuitous later in the story.

As the pair tries to escape the chains that bind them, they are brought to the edge of insanity with messages planted for each of them by their captor. Each time they think they know the answer to the riddles another riddle is handed in its place. And the maniacal puppet thing will give me nightmares for weeks to come - not to mention the voice on the recorders . . . creepy stuff, folks, creepy stuff! It is simply amazing what people will do (or try to do) to stay alive.

Without giving too much away, let me just finish by saying that I thoroughly enjoyed Saw. It was an unexpected, un-Hollywood totally horrific horror story in all its glory. I cannot wait for the sequel, Saw II, scheduled to be released October 28, 2005.

 Re: Saw
saw was decent. some people say it sucked, but compared to recent films that have come out, it was good. I loved the ending. I'm happy it wasn't tacky, like if they had gotten Danny Glover to say " I'm To Old For This Shit."

 Re: Saw
SAW is a breathe of fresh air. We have been stuck with lame ghost movies, remakes, and lame sequels for the past couple of years. This movie brings back the mystery to horror. THe combination of blood, suspence, and frieght make it all good.

 Re: Saw
Saw was great in that it was low-budget, but packed some BIG thrills. I can't say it was scary, but it was 'disturbing', especially the 'saw' scene ;) Truly, a great film, i mean, the ending completely blew me away!
