So did the kid choke on the bee, or did the bee choke on the kid? That is the question . . .
You will understand that question if you watch
Seven Days to Live. I am on the fence on this one kiddies because it is not a horrible movie, but not a great movie either. It teeters on the edge of good and bad.
Good because the acting was decent. The storyline was okay - but also bad because it borrowed a lot from other films and didn't really explain the whole "7 days to live" thing - why 7? The setting sorta kinda worked but also seemed to be lacking somewhat. And there were some continuity problems as well.
The story goes like this, Martin (Sean Pertwee) and Ellen Shaw (Amanda Plummer) move from their city digs into the serene countryside after the tragic death of their son, Thomas (Eddie Cooper). So far so good. Turns out that Martin is a writer who has written a couple of horrific books since the death of his son and is being pushed by his publisher, Paul (Sean Chapman) to complete another literary masterpiece. Paul and his wife Claudia (Gina Bellman) however, only give the couple six weeks in the country before they come running back to the comforts of the city.
From day one in their new home, Ellen begins seeing signs all over of her impending death in 7 days. Fearing that she may be going a little insane from the guilt of not being able to save her little boy's life, she goes to see her shrink who of course prescribes her anti-depressants. Ellen also meets one of the townsfolk Carl Farrell (Nick Brimble) who is a retired cop that worked on a case at her new home but he refuses to talk to her about it.
To make a long story short after being subjected to a husband who seems to be obsessed with the basement, a son who won't seem to stay dead, an ex-cop who won't talk and a home that keeps showing her how many more days she has to live, Ellen decides to take matters into her own hands and begins to research the history of her own private hell house. Come to find out, it is built on a swamp that was used as a burial ground for criminals years and years ago and the swamp now wants Ellen.
Like I said earlier, not a great movie but not a completely horrible one either. My final opinion is that it is something to watch if you happen to catch it on TV while flipping through the channels, but I wouldn't go renting or buying it if I were you.
