Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses - A music video, a horror film and a tribute to Texas Chainsaw Massacre all rolled into one.

Okay, I watched the film the first time and really liked it. I watched it the second time and loved it. The one major flaw of the film in my opinion, is the fact that other than introducing the tale of Doctor Satan, Rob Zombie should have left it alone. It seemed to me that there could've been two movies here. One all about the Firefly's and their wicked ways and perhaps a prequel or sequel regarding the actual Doctor Satan. This part of the film confused me, it was as if it didn't belong. I just couldn't buy it.

That in no means diminished my enjoyment of House of 1000 Corpses. The characters were fabulous: Sid Haig as Captain Spaulding was brilliance to the N th degree; Karen Black as mother Firefly perfection; Sheri Moon as Baby Firefly just dripped with sadomasochistic sexuality; Bill Moseley as Otis Driftwood-you couldn't ask for a better performance! True, the "rabbits" were all a bit whiney and annoying, but I couldn't help but feel for Rainn Wilson (Bill Hudley). I think this had more to do with his performance in Six Feet Under as the quirky intern than anything else, but I rooted for him nonetheless.

The look of the film was just amazing. That coupled with the soundtrack pulled the whole experience together for me (well other than the Doctor Satan portion). Go into this viewing experience knowing that Rob Zombie was heavily influenced by Texas Chainsaw Massacre and his experience with music videos. Speaking as someone directly from the MTV generation, I loved the fact that he mixed his talents in the making of House of 1000 Corpses. And although it is quite obvious that he may have subconsciously lifted a bit from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, he definately Zombie-ized it!

See this film, then see it again. It just keeps getting better.
