Bottle of red, bottle of white . . .
. . . it all depends upon your appetite. The second episode in the first season of Medium, Suspicions and Certainties only made me more certain that this was a show I was absolutely going to love.
Allison has been waiting for a call from the District Attorney’s office but to no avail. She seems to have slipped into a mild depression spurred by the constant reorganizing of household drawers when out of the blue Attorney Devalos gives her a call to help him with jury selection. It seems that he is unsatisfied with his current jury consultant and wants Allison to “feel” her way through a stack of jury questionnaires to see if she can glean anything from them.
Of course this is in a capital punishment trial and Joe is a little concerned with Allison’s certainties about her feelings. He is afraid she is only human and may make a human type mistake. I have to say, he really started to aggravate me in this episode and I am very glad that he has come around a bit in future episodes - though he always seems to try and play devil’s advocate. (I really loath that quality in a husband)
Allison’s dreams during this episode are extremely disturbing, depicting a man with a compulsion to kill then rape several beautiful women. She is able however, to assist the D.A. in putting together a killer jury (no pun intended - okay, maybe a little pun intended). However, she begins to doubt herself when she sees the defendant on the late night news and he doesn’t look anything like the man in her dreams.
Never fear though, Allison’s feelings are dead on and she realizes that the man in her dreams was actually the man from the Italian restaurant menu that she and her husband have been frequenting with a group of their friends. And although she substituted his face for the killer’s she is sure she put the right man away.
Go Allison!
