What are you willing to do?
In Judge, Jury and Executioner, Joe finds himself on the jury of a case that D.A. Devalos is trying against a man who claims to have lost his wife in a mishap at sea. All think it is okay that Joe is on the jury because Allison has not been directly involved with the case. However, our resident psychic has been having dreams about the defendant. And they do not look favorably upon him. Matter of fact we start the episode with her dream of the defendant on stage speaking very Tony Robbins-ish. He is speaking to a room full of people telling them that they can all be very rich, but it all depends on what they are willing to do.
It is very telling as we get into the trial and find that our defendant, though he cries as he speaks about his dead wife, stands to inherit her 42 million dollar trust fund. During the episode, Allison keeps having dreams about what really happened to his wife until finally she gets a vibe off of a woman who is coming out of the courtroom. The vibe as she shares with Detective Scanlon is that she and the defendant were in bed together. Come to find out, they were once lovers and she tells the detective of how the defendant basically decided that he wanted his soon to be wife’s money. The woman informed him that there would be no way unless he went through Daddy dearest. So the defendant cozied up to Dad and in doing so, was introduced to daughter. It seemed he had the wool pulled over everyone’s eyes - everyone’s but Allison’s that is.
After losing the case, Devalos cannot shake the feeling that this defendant is very guilty of not just negligent homicide for which he was tried, but much, much more. So he takes a drive up to the hunting cabin owned by Dad and his team does not have to search too far to find the remains of his daughter in a black garbage bag cut into little pieces.
At the end of the episode, Allison gets a phone call from Devalos in which he informs her that the father just turned himself in for the murder of his son-in-law. Seems he took him up to the cabin then gave him a 3 minute head start before he hunted him down and shot him 23 times.
So, what are you willing to do?
